May’s Celebration … beyond April showers, Lilacs and Lilies of the Valley

If you are a small business owner, you know that there is a lot of “juggling” of priorities – prospecting, client work, employee relations, marketing & promotion not to mention the back office responsibilities of record keeping, invoicing, purchasing of supplies/equipment, and the list continues…  As I write this list, I wonder why I ever decided to go on my own?

Now in my 10th year, I can say – “Oh yes, it is the freedom, flexibility, and satisfaction!”

Freedom – making decisions, selecting target markets, developing your own approach to an issue or goal

Flexibility – which of the 7 days and 24 hours you wish to work, which project/products you elect to support, being able to change directions quickly

Satisfaction – the reward when completing a project on time and to client’s appreciation or providing a product that truly meets the needs; being able to go above and beyond without fear of being reprimanded.

But most of all, the ability to continue to grow, learn and share with clients and peers.

May is Small Business month.  If you are a small business owner, congratulations and celebrate!  If you aren’t, find a small business owner and celebrate with them!
